Biometric exams for healthcare workers will be being introduced in the country by 2021, a government official said on Thursday.
“This will be done in collaboration with the government and private sector,” Union Minister of State for Health Dr Manoj Sinha said.
The Ministry of Health will provide an advisory on biometric examinations for doctors by the end of this month, he said.
“This is the first time a health facility will be equipped with a biometric scanner for the screening of healthcare workers,” he said at a press conference.
Earlier this month , the Health Ministry said the Government was committed to introducing biometric examination in all healthcare facilities by 2021.
The Health Ministry had last month announced that the health ministry was setting up biometric testing centre in Mumbai to enable doctors to check a patient’s medical records.
In August, Health Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that in the coming three years, the ministry would introduce biometric tests in all hospitals.
